Do as I do and as I say … the saying goes, and that’s exactly the example the Roadside Services management team are championing.
Roadside Services and Solutions Manager, Civil Works Manager Glenn McAsey and Civil Works Administrator Daniel Kennett are going back to school to support their team who have enrolled in the RII30915 Certificate III in Civil Construction course.
When the Roadside Services Victorian Civil Works team of Daniel, Ashley, Dale, Craig, Tim, Aaron and Charng were approached to undertake, they jumped at the idea and knowing they had the support of their bosses also working alongside them gave them the extra enthusiasm their bosses were prepared to work at the new qualification as well to support them.
The qualification will build on the various licences and competencies the team already holds.
Roadside Services Managing Director Jared Watkins says the certificate will provide further recognition of the extensive skills and experience they apply in their roles every day.
“We always implement best practice and standards and this course will formalise the team’s expertise with a formal qualification.
“Achieving best practice and working to the highest standards are the two principles embedded within our operation for sign, barrier, guard rail and bollard installations as well as road reconstruction, kerb preparation, footpath construction and drainage installation,” Jared Watkins says.
“The dedication of this team, lead by Civil Works Manager Glenn McAsey and supported by Civil Works Administrator Daniel Kennett and under the watchful eye of our Senior Civil Engineer and Operations Manager Matt Balderston, to enrol in this course and obtain this qualification is a great example of Roadside living up to our value proposition to offer customers consistent, quality service, fulfilled by professional, skilled and reliable people.

The team has been enrolled through the National Skills Institute with the course being run through MEGT in Ringwood.
The course will be run over the next 18 months onsite at Roadside Services and Solutions Croydon operations. Trainers will run modules on site each month with the team completing various units of competency each month.

The area at 130 Bay Street, Port Melbourne has been made safer with the installation of an Energy Absorbing Bollard as the leading bollard and accompanied by 10 non deforming bollards with screens for the loading bay.
Roadside Services is now incorporating work zone screens to the non-deforming bollards instead of core drilling and concreting the sleeves in.
This new configuration for a typical loading bay will save time on installation and provides customers with a more cost-effective solution removing the cost of core drilling.
A crowd of 200 people, great auction prizes and the goodwill of attendees to redonate auction items after having paid for them once, helped boost this year’s Riley Nixon Charity Fundraising efforts to a whopping $21,780.
This is an increase of $11,000 from last year.
The event, spearheaded by Roadside Services and Solutions, was held at the Morphetville Racecourse with races sponsored by Roadside Services and Solutions, Plumbing & Pipeline Solutions (PPS), Bradley Painting Services, Action Line Marking, Delnorth, Daimler Trucks Adelaide and Advanced Transport Refrigeration (ATR).
Contributing to the outstanding fundraising efforts of the day was the charity spirit shown by a number of attendees who decided to reauction the items they bought to help raise further funds for Riley Nixon.
Craig McLoud of PPS set the trend for the day. When the signed Chelsea Football Club soccer ball went to auction, Craig’s bid of $1300 knocked out the nearest rival. In the second round of the soccer ball auction, Ennio Silvestri of Silvercrete bought the ball for $1500 and donated it for auction again. In the third round of the auction, strong bidding took the ball price back up to $1500 again. Hence Ennio Silvestri paying a total of $3000, Craig McLoud paying $1300, raised a total of $4300 for the soccer ball.
The Adelaide Crows football first sold to Stephen Hogan of Daimler for $500. He redonated the football and it was purchased by the team at Suez Waste Services for a further $500, raising a total of $1000.
The strong auction interest encouraged Suez Waste Services to throw up for auction a table for 10 people at a 2019 football game in the Adelaide Oval Audi Club. Scott Dornan of Action Linemarking took out the prize with his first round auction bidding of $1400 and then redonated to claim the prize again for $1500, paying a total of $2900.
The signed Adelaide Crows guernsey sold for $1500 to Paul Christie; the Adelaide Bite baseball tickets were bought by Michael Walsh of ATR for $600 and a guest on the Daimler Trucks table, known as Jane, paid $1700 for a John Platten signed Hawthorn AFL Club guernsey and $650 for the South Australia Jockey Club lunch voucher.

“The money is going in to a trust account and will be used to contribute to the cost of a set of prosthetic legs for Riley Nixon. The cost of the prosthetic legs is in excess of $300,000.
“We will be running the day again next year on Saturday 30 November and aiming to hit a target of $30,000. So save the date and come and have a good day out with us, while raising money for a very worthy cause,” Craig Woods said.

A larger than life mural design of the Adelaide Bite has provided a much-needed uplift to an old transport building at Diamond Sports Park at West Beach in South Australia.
The park is the South Australian home of the Softball and Baseball Centre of Excellence.

Roadside Services and Solutions has been proud to deliver to Manningham City Council the new asphalt shared path and concrete footpath at Rosco Drive Templestowe with a combined length of some 150 metres.
Manningham residents and visitors can enjoy the new facility providing a more convenient access to this area.
The connecting path is an important piece of infrastructure in the Manningham City Council precinct.

Making sure every employee goes home safely, target zero injuries and knowing what to do in the event of an emergency are core to the every day practices at Roadside Services and Solutions.
This week the Roadside team completed a refresher course in emergency response training and their skills were quickly put to the test with an evacuation drill conducted of the two office and factory facilities at Croydon.
Based on a time trial, the buildings were evacuated in 3 minutes 35 seconds which won them a high commendation by training providers, Already Safe.
